No accounts, no cookies

PickBySpec has no user accounts, no forms, no newsletter and no advertising systems. We set no tracking or advertising cookies and use no cross-site profiling. That is why the site shows no cookie banner: there is nothing to consent to.

We measure traffic in two ways and neither uses cookies. Cloudflare Web Analytics shows aggregate numbers such as visits and the most read pages. We also run our own simple tool that records which pages you view, what you click, how long you read a page, which website you came from, your country and what kind of device and browser you use. Each visit gets a random number that only lives in the open browser tab and disappears when you close it. We do not store your IP address and we do not follow you across websites.

The data helps us improve the site and tell people from bots. The legal basis is our legitimate interest. The records are stored in a database run by Cloudflare. Detailed records are deleted after 180 days, visit summaries after two years.

What is processed and why

The site is served by Cloudflare, Inc., which as our processor briefly handles technical connection data (IP address, request metadata) for security, DDoS protection and delivery. This is our legitimate interest in running a secure service. We do not combine this data with anything else.

If you e-mail us, we process your address and the content of the message solely to reply, for as long as the conversation requires.
